Annual Commentary of the Holy Quran in the Month of Ramadan

Monday 13th May, 2019

The Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him) during the month of Ramadan some 1440 years ago.

Since then, Muslim leaders, scholars and Imams take pride in interpreting or giving detail commentary of the chapters and verses of the Quran according to their knowledge, intellectual capacity and understanding of the Deen (Religion) during the month of Ramadan as the month present the Muslim leadership around the World enormous opportunity to preach and educate the Muslim community in large congregations and masses.

The situation is not different in Ghana where the leadership of the Muslim community also use the sacred month to unite and educate the Muslim community on matters of the religion and service to mankind and Allah.

His Eminence the National Chief Imam and Grand Mufti of the Republic of Ghana, Sheikh Prof. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu conducts this holy practice over two decades ago and still continues at the Abossey Okai Central Mosque, Accra.

This program has evolved to become a National event where the Vice President and top Government officials grace, attend and give messages on behalf of the State and the President.

The program is being championed by the National Council of Zango Chiefs and supported by the Office of the National Chief Imam of Ghana.

This year's Quran Commentary by the National Chief Imam began on Saturday 11th May 2019 at the Abossey Okai Central Mosque at 12pm and ends at 1pm on time for the Zuhr payers.

Similar programs are being carried out across various Mosques and places of worships and gathering during this sacred month.

The President of the Tijjaniya Muslims Movement of Ghana (TMMG), Sheikh Imam Abdul Wadudu Haruna also leads similar program in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region.

We pray to Allah to help all during and after Ramadan 2019.
