National Chief Imam's Islamic New Year Message

Saturday 31st August, 2019

PRESS RELEASE BY THE NATIONAL CHIEF IMAM OF GHANA ON ISLAMIC NEW YEAR 1441H

Dear Members of the Media in Ghana and abroad.

I write on behalf of His Eminence the National Chief Imam and Grand Mufti of the Republic of Ghana, Sheikh Prof. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu to humbly convey the special message of His Eminence on this special day on the Islamic Calendar to Ghanaians in particular and the World at large.

Today, Saturday 31st August 2019 is the 1st day of the first month on the Islamic calendar marking the 1441years since Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings of Allah be with Him) migrated from Mekkah to the Garden City of Madina in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia out of persecution by his own people.

Muslims around the World observe the arrival of Prophet Muhammad's migration to Madina as the first day of the Islamic calendar and it is being observed as such in many Arab and Muslim populated Nations.

His Eminence the National Chief Imam wishes all the Muslims around the World a very Happy and a Prosperous New Year, 1441.

His Eminence prays to Almighty Allah to bring lasting Peace in the war and conflict torn areas around the World particularly in the Middle East where Muslims constitute a majority.

We would like to use this occasion to call on the Arab World to unite and come together for a common goal; development and prosperity for your people irrespective of your differences.

The devil thrives and gets stronger on the back of the division of the Arab World.

The Quran states;

“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided”. Chapter 3 Verse 103.

Another verse says;

“And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient”. Chapter 8. Verse 46.

“Abu Musa reported in a Hadith that: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, the believers are like a structure, each part strengthening the other,” and the Prophet clasped his fingers together.

Al-Nu’man ibn Bashir also reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The parable of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.”

We pray to Allah to strengthen Islam and Muslims around the World.

His Eminence is further baffled by the commitment of World super powers on their attempts and struggle to eliminate the World most deadliest nuclear weapons.

We believe that such struggle should be followed by concrete actions to eliminate every deadly, killer guns and weapons such that the World would witness, perhaps only rubber bullets and its kinds. That would be an ideal World and a responsible human society.

His Eminence prays for Peace to rain all over the World.
