Vice President visits the National Chief Imam

His Excellency the Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia paid a visit to His Eminence the National Chief Imam of Ghana, Sheikh Professor Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, today Sunday 12th July 2020 to among other things;

1. Welcome His Eminence from the longest ever Halwa (period of spiritual isolation exercise) that the National Chief Imam underwent just after the Eidul Fitr.

2. Present himself to his father officially as the chosen running mate of the President of the Republic who’s also the Flagbearer of the NPP on the 2020 general elections, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.

His Eminence welcomed the Vice President as a member of the house and a champion of development in the Muslim and Zango Community in Ghana.

The Office of the National Chief Imam (ONCI) wishes to take this opportunity to express its gratitude to the Vice President and the President for some number of initiatives that the current administration took to uplift and raise the living standards of the Zango community, part of which is the establishment of the Zango Development Fund (ZDF), the acquisition of 40 scholarships specifically for residents of the Zango to learn medicine and other science related field in Cuba and the Government plans to make this program an annual exercise.

The ONCI wishes to acknowledge that it observe the changing patten and nature of politics in the Zango communities since Dr. Bawumia became the Vice President. 

The Zango communities of today is no longer interested in receiving bags of rice, sugar and some material things during festive sessions but rather scholarships, employment for its graduates, vocational skills for its drop-outs and entrepreneurship/empowerment trainings that will translate into development into Zango communities.

His Eminence prayed for the President and Vice President, for all government appointees and for Ghana.

His Eminence said a special and dedicated prayers to Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for Allah’s protection, guidance, blessings and success in all his endeavours. He also prayed for peaceful election, tolerance and interfaith harmony among all religions in the World.
